Village Arkasa

Arkasa, more than a village...

16 km from Karpathos town lies the village Arkasa. It is situated in a fertile region, and impresses visitors with its green nature, beautiful beaches and important historic monuments.

In Paleokastro hill you will see the ruins of the ancient city Arkesias. In the same area are preserved the relics of the early Christian Basilica of St. Anastasia, dating from the 5th century. Feature is the excellent mosaic floors, parts of which you will see at the outdoor patio of the church. The mosaic floor has been transferred to the Museum of Rhodes.

You can swim at the beach of St. Nicholas and St. George. A few miles outside Arkasa village, you will find the village Finiki, a small fishing port with magnificent beaches: Fokia, Adeia, Akrotiri and Proni.
